Our June midsummer retreat – such a beautifully lush time of year to be in the mountains! The hawthorns that usually dominate May were still in full flower, their scent filling the mountain air generously. The rest of the view was GREEN – young bracken, lush grass and the vibrant bilberry which is also zinging out its young leaves a little later this year.
All in all, our weekend provided a whole range of weather. We had moody clouds, a good drenching and cheeky cold north westerly on Twmpa, then by the time we’d walked down the Nant Bwch valley, visibility, sunshine and toasty warmth were back; Peacefully atmospheric mizzle on Sunday’s walk to Llanthony Priory; and dark skies which became bright blue skies on Monday’s pootle to the Grwyn Fawr Reservoir (and its sheep!) Beautiful as ever, just great to be out 😮
